Biography
Georgina Hughes was an important volunteer who dedicated countless hours to the Potters Guild of BC (PGBC) from the early 1960s to the early 1990s. She headed the Membership Committee for many years, volunteered for all the Hycroft sales, was a vice-president for Robert Wehgsteen, when he was president. Georgina contributed to the newsletter for during the 60s and 70s. Also in the 1970s she served as President to the Guild, and in 1980, on the Exhibition and Catalogue Committee for the seminal 'Retrospect 80', the 25th Anniversary exhibition of the PGBC. Georgina gradually retired from being active with the PGBC by the early 1990s. She was awarded a Lifetime Membership from the PGBC in recognition of her service.
Georgian learned pottery through the PGBC workshops, community classes and was largely self taught. She focused on functional work.
She is living in her son’s home, an active 101 years old (2022).
