Biography
Kathleen Hamilton graduated from the Vancouver School of Art (honours) in 1954. From c. 1955 to 1967, Hamilton was a prolific painter and printmaker showing work locally in public and private galleries, sometimes as a member of the Granville Group. At the beginning of her career, she was included in the touring exhibition Young Canadian Contemporaries (London Art Gallery, ON, 1955). In the late 1960s, she began a career in pottery, studying with Kay Dodd and Barbara Baanders at the Ross- Huyghe School of Pottery, Vancouver. She specialized in hand-built work, which allowed her the freedom to explore diverse forms. During the 1970s, she taught pottery at the Burnaby Arts Centre and at Fraser Valley College, Abbotsford, BC.
